Impact CAD

Structural design and die making software

Impact is one of the world’s most widely installed design and manufacturing applications specifically written for print and packaging companies, POP display manufacturers and die makers. It features the industry’s most powerful database engine and dedicated tools for structural design, product development, virtual sampling, and tooling design.

Whether you work with solid board, in corrugated or plastics, Impact has everything a designer needs to conquer even the most complex of projects with ease. Intuitive drawing tools, dimension driven parametric design, an intelligent layout feature, and powerful 3D modelling capabilities combine to make Impact the most usable and productive design package available.

      Key benefits

  • The industry’s most powerful and only fully integrated database engine, delivering maximum performance in virtually any network environment including LANs, WANs and VPNs
  • Maximum scope to streamline inefficient workflows through integration with enterprise wide business systems
  • Supports SQL Server, My SQL, SQL Express, Oracle and many other databases
  • Interactive drawing tools that enhance usability and boost productivity
  • Large library of reusable parametric designs for optimal drawing and sample turnaround
  • Advanced 3D modelling and animation tools for fast prototyping and enhanced presentations
  • Drag and drop design components, which reduce design time and add realism to virtual samples

  • Powerful and efficient layout and tooling design

  • Automated die making features that combine speed, efficiency and accuracy

  • Comprehensive data interchange options for maximum interoperability

A fully customisable database lies at the heart of Impact’s versatility and power. Data storage and retrieval is fast and efficient, simultaneously delivering detailed and meaningful feedback at the touch of a button. Feedback that can be shared equally effectively between the departments of a company or across the plants of a multi-site organisation.

A large library of pre-programmed and reusable parametric designs is included for fast drawing and sample turnaround. These include comprehensive corrugated [FEFCO] and folding carton [ECMA] libraries, as well as libraries of POP displays, shelf ready packaging styles and CD wallets etc.

Impact’s layout feature will automatically calculate one or more interlocking nesting patterns to ensure maximum press efficiency and minimum material waste. This feature also keeps track of the material type, grain and flute direction to ensure that one up designs always display in the correct orientation when added to a sheet.

Structural design is as much about experimentation as it is imagination, and Impact’s powerful 3D feature allows you to combine both. 2D to 3D conversion is quick and easy enabling the production of virtual prototypes in a matter of seconds. Impact also supports the importing of 3D solid objects, the creation of 3D product shapes and the creation of video animations for use in presentations.

Impact’s die making features are founded on an intimate knowledge of the die making process and deliver all the speed, efficiency and accuracy a die shop needs for the creation of flatbed and rotary die boards, strippers, counters, blankers and ejection rubber parts.

Customisable master tool settings allow customer specifications to be stored and reused for maximum productivity and guaranteed quality control. As a result, the process of turning a sheet layout into a die board becomes fully automated, including the simultaneous addition and positioning of stripping knives, balance knives, alignment notch, mounting holes, laser text and gripper fingers.

Impact’s automated stripper feature incorporates sophisticated routines that facilitate the fast design of male, female and front edge strippers. A single click locates and replicates offset geometry for internal and external waste areas, and automatically sends that data to a specified drawing layer.

An intelligent mix of automation and manual control is applied to the production of counter plates in Impact. Fully customisable parameters determine the support of partial cuts, reverse cuts and creases, embossing, tool angle and widths, treatment of periphery and chamfer, and the location of mounting pin holes.

Impact incorporates advanced editing and nesting features for the creation of ejection rubber sections and is capable of driving virtually any water jet or plotter technology.

Maximum machine interoperability
Arden Software does not manufacture machinery. Our focus, first and foremost, is software and our objective is to make products capable of driving virtually any sample maker, laser, counter cutter, router, or water jet technology on the market. The company enjoys strategic partnerships with a number of machinery manufacturers around the world, which is good news for our customers, because it means that whatever equipment they are using, Impact will probably be able to drive it.

Operating system and hardware requirements
Impact software will run on any Microsoft Windows PC with a Pentium III processor or better. If using hi-resolution graphics, performance may need enhancing by increasing system memory, graphics memory or processing power.
