Impact Standard Creator
. . . reusable designs with checks and balances
|
Impact Standard Creator allows users to add their own reusable designs to the Impact Standard Libraries or to create a completely new corporate design library if required. An Impact Standard can be created from a new structural design, from an existing structural design, or from a structural design imported from a third party application.
The flexibility of Impact Standard Creator is unique, and unlike other packaging design applications, means that designers don't need a crystal ball to know which product line will take off and expand across a range of sizes, as they can begin the conversion from geometry to Impact Standard whenever it suits them or the need arises.

Impact Standards work on the principle of dimension driven parametric design, which means that if you can dimension it, and you can parametise it, you can make a standard out of it. Impact's parametrics editor will help you decide where and how to dimension the geometry, and you can add as many or as few variables required to make the standard work correctly. A useful expression builder is included to help you set up simple or complex formulae when calculating the defaults for variables. Creating standards from your own custom designs is well worth the effort, as being able to re-size existing designs will save you hours of work over time.
Any designs you create using Impact Standard Creator can be added to the Impact Standard Libraries and can be made available to all the designers in your company. You can even create a PDF catalogue of your corporate library to circulate amongst your colleagues and customers.
As with all aspects of Impact, Standards can also be database driven. Common variables such as Length, Width and Depth as well as more important allowances are stored in the database allowing you to make global changes in seconds. If you want to change the slot width on all slotted cases or change the envelope base allowances on all the ECMA folding carton standards, one change is all it takes to adjust Imapct Standards to fit your company preferences.
Impact Standard Creator allows you to include all the necessary checks and balances required to ensure that a designer using a custom standard cannot inadvertently apply values that are not applicable to a particular design. Examples of this might be the imposition of a minimum or maximum panel measurement, or a restriction in the use of an usuitable type of material. Any value entered by the user can be checked for validity and a message flagged to tell the designer what is wrong. Setting design and production related limits in Impact Standards will reduce errors and save your company money.
