No More Dongles

Impact 2013 will be the first release of the packaging design application to use software activation.  This means that from the launch date (yet to be confirmed), physical hardware dongles will no longer be required.

Software activation is a simple, two-step process, which involves the entering of a licence code on the installation workstation followed by validation of the Impact licence over the internet.  It will also be possible to activate licences manually if no internet connection is available.

Previously a customer who wanted to use Impact on three workstations would need three individual hardware dongles.  Typically each of these hardware dongles would contain identical features to allow Impact to be used on each workstation.

With software activation it will just be a matter of creating a single licence code that allows three individual activations on three different workstations.  This will make it easier for the customer to move licences between workstations, and easier for Arden Software to maintain and configure licences.

The Impact Licence Server can be used with Impact 2013 to enable the use of concurrent licences alongside software activated licences.  However, the Licence Server will continue to require a hardware dongle for operation.

Please note:  Upgrading to Impact 2013 is conditional on all redundant dongles being returned to Arden Software.
