Job Type: Permanent
Location: Marple, Stockport (HQ)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Dependent upon experience
Arden Software is an industry leading software house in Marple, Stockport providing bespoke CAD/CAM and design workflow solutions to the packaging industry. We are looking for a Support Engineer to join our busy team in our UK head office.
We are a dynamic, rapidly growing organisation that is constantly looking to harness the latest technologies for our products, developing not only desktop software, but our own mobile application and web solutions.
Our primary product is Impact , a Windows CAD system for packaging design and manufacture, written in C++, which has existed in various guises for well over two decades and is continually being enhanced and improved. Our other key product is WEBcnx , a design workflow management system, an ASP.NET web application developed in C# using Visual Studio. We also develop other bespoke applications, plugins and solutions for our customers and partners, and are continually looking to emerging technologies, and how they may be applied to our industry, in order to secure a commercial advantage for our customers.
We require new software engineers of all levels of experience to join the development team in order to deal with an increasing customer demand. We currently have a team of around ten in-house developers, all with software or engineering degrees, and with many years of experience between them. All developers are expected to play an active role in all aspects of the product development life-cycle (analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, maintenance), in collaboration with others. There are occasional visits to customers and foreign travel opportunities, but the vast majority of the dev team’s work is done at our headquarters in the hills overlooking Manchester, UK. We work in a modern air-conditioned open-plan office with break-out areas (one with pool-table) in an informal, friendly and (usually) relaxed working environment.
Successful candidates would be given full training in-house under the mentorship of our team of existing developers. They would rapidly progress towards working on real production code, helping with both new functionality and maintenance tasks.
They would be involved in the planning, design and development of future features for our products, working with other members of the team to solve problems, carrying out research where necessary, taking overall responsibility and ownership for software development projects.
Eventually, they would assist in progressing the technical skills of other developers, demonstrating the same passion and enthusiasm for commercial software engineering as we do. They would rapidly progress towards team leadership, having gained a thorough understanding of our existing source code and working practices. We would expect them to become involved directly with important customers and upper-management, looking to a long-term future as a key, respected technical expert or manager within our highly successful, growing company and industry as a whole.
Positions are permanent and full-time with competitive salary dependent upon experience.
