Packaging and paper giant Mondi, which employs 26,000 people worldwide, has been an Arden Software customer for almost a decade.
Mondi has around 100 production sites all over the world and was looking for an innovative solution to integrate its CAD and design workflow management across 12 of its corrugated packaging plants in Europe.
Pierrick Vincelot, Mondi’s European Product Innovation Manager for Corrugated Packaging, explains: “At Mondi we are strongly committed to any innovation that we believe will benefit our customers.
“The design of the packaging we make for them is a critical part of this and we decided that we needed a new solution that would combine CAD with enterprise-wide design workflow management across 12 plants in Austria, Germany, Poland, and Turkey.
“We wanted to improve efficiency, increase productivity, offer our customers more product possibilities, and to retain our competitive edge.”
Mondi turned to Arden Software, confident our cutting-edge Impact and Enterprise software would provide the bespoke and fully-integrated design solution they needed to stay ahead of the game.
Arden’s first challenge was to replace a variety of old CAD systems in use at the Mondi plants and train their staff to use the new, innovative Impact software, with minimal disruption to the organisation’s operations.

“For a global, multi-lingual organisation like Mondi, this was quite a task, but we seamlessly installed Impact and Enterprise throughout its 12 plants and trained 40 people to use the software in English, German, Polish and Turkish, whilst ensuring that production continued across its plants unhindered.”
The Impact software boasts highly automated and powerful features for structural design, product development, and 3D virtual prototyping. Uniquely, the system utilises a highly integrated design database that allows users to store projects and manage associated documents, as well as control access, search and locate legacy designs, and track revisions.
For Mondi, the level of functionality Impact provides as part of its standard toolkit, has greatly improved the company’s efficiency.
Mr Vincelo added: “The much more efficient tools that Impact offers completely superseded those of the various CAD systems that were used previously at Mondi Corrugated Packaging plants.”
The software can be wholly tailored to meet the needs of different customers and their individual operations.
Mr Hewitt added: “We recognise that designers work in different ways, so Impact can be easily tailored to suit each user’s ability and personal preferences. For Mondi, with so many different users at different sites, this level of functionality has been crucial and enabled them to improve their efficiency and increase productivity across its plants.
